Position Description:

Under the direction of the Mowbray’s Tree Service (MTS) Lead Mechanic, MTS mechanics will perform repairs and maintenance on all MTS fleet and tree trimming/removal equipment. MTS Mechanics will report directly to Mowbray’s Lead Mechanic.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Position Requirements:

  • Performs work as outlined on repair orders in accordance with the manufacturers specifications (medium duty and pick-up trucks)
  • Diagnoses the cause of any malfunction and performs repairs
  • Communicates with the Fleet Parts Clerk to obtain needed parts
  • Inspects the assigned vehicle / equipment to determine if any further safety or service work is required
  • Notifies Fleet Operations of any damage noted during vehicle and equipment inspections up to and including changes to the appearance or condition of the vehicle
  • Communicates with the Fleet Lead Mechanic if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the Fleet Lead Mechanic
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to the Fleet Lead Mechanic
  • Documents and inputs all work performed and recommended on the repair order into the Fleet Maintenance Software • Road tests vehicles when required • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • If applicable, ensures company assigned vehicle is kept clean
  • Maintains a neat and clean shop area and any company vehicles assigned to them
  • Understands and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA Right-to-Know etc. • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs
  • Remains up to date with any manufacturer technical bulletins
  • Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned
  • Must be open to a flexible work schedule which may include working out of town for extended periods of time

Qualifications:

  • State Driver’s License (Required)
  • Commercial Driver’s License (Required) (Must be obtained within 6 months of being on the job)
  • Certified Mechanic (Preferred)
  • Bi-lingual (Required)

Education:

  • High School Diploma (Preffered)
  • MS Office 365 and Outlook (Preferred)
  • 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
